About me

Isabel Mendoza is a Mexican-American illustrator and author that often gets so overwhelmed with the idea of existing at all, she needs to lie down for a while. She then channels all of that existential dread into illustrations and stories that represent all the possibilites (so she says) of the universe.

Isabel studied at California College of the Arts, where she found a passion for storytelling and design. She likes to revisit her own childhood experiences in her stories, as she does in her first picture book, Quiet, forthcoming from Bloomsbury, and aims to create a safe space for kids to explore their own thoughts and emotions.

Isabel is represented by Abigail Samoun at Red Fox Literary.
